Tigers activate OF Perez (oblique) from IL

Detroit's offense gets a boost with the return of Perez

The Detroit Tigers have activated outfielder Akil Baddoo from the 10-day injured list (IL) on Thursday, the team announced. Baddoo had been sidelined since July 29 with a left oblique strain.

In a corresponding move, the Tigers optioned outfielder Daz Cameron to Triple-A Toledo. Cameron had been recalled from Toledo on August 10 when Baddoo went on the IL.

Baddoo is hitting .250/.333/.433 with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs in 72 games this season. He has been one of the Tigers' most consistent hitters, and his return should provide a boost to the team's offense.

Cameron is hitting .233/.324/.400 with 11 home runs and 30 RBIs in 75 games this season. He has been a valuable contributor to the Tigers, but he will likely see less playing time with Baddoo back in the lineup.

The Tigers are currently in fourth place in the AL Central with a record of 54-64. They are 6.5 games behind the first-place Minnesota Twins.

Perez injury update

Perez suffered an oblique strain while taking batting practice on July 28. He was initially placed on the 10-day IL, but the Tigers later announced that he would be out for at least six weeks.

Perez has been rehabbing his injury at the Tigers' spring training complex in Lakeland, Florida. He has been taking batting practice and running the bases, and he is expected to be ready to play in games soon.

The Tigers are hopeful that Perez will be able to return to the lineup by the end of August. He will be a welcome addition to the team, as he is one of their best hitters.

Tigers outlook

The Tigers are hoping to make a run at the playoffs this season. They have a talented roster, but they have been inconsistent at times. The return of Perez should help to stabilize the lineup, and it could be the spark that the team needs to make a push for the postseason.
