Coronation King Charles

Millions Celebrate King Charles III Coronation

Historic Day Filled with Events, Both Planned and Unplanned

Coronation Follows Queen Elizabeth II's Passing Eight Months Ago

Millions of people across the UK and beyond have celebrated the coronation of King Charles III, a symbolic ceremony that combined ancient traditions with modern sensibilities. The coronation, which took place at Westminster Abbey in London, was the culmination of months of planning and preparation, and was attended by world leaders, dignitaries, and members of the royal family.

The ceremony began with a procession of the King and Queen Consort from Buckingham Palace to the Abbey, accompanied by a fanfare of trumpets and the cheers of the crowd. Once inside the Abbey, the King took his place on the Coronation Chair, which was specially commissioned for the coronation of Edward I in 1296. The Archbishop of Canterbury then placed the St Edward's Crown on the King's head, marking the formal moment of his coronation. The King was then anointed with holy oil, and presented with the orb, sceptre, and rod, symbols of his authority as king.

The coronation ceremony was followed by a reception at Buckingham Palace, where the King and Queen Consort greeted guests and celebrated their coronation. The day's events concluded with a fireworks display over the River Thames, marking the end of a historic day in British history.
